Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: We heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Keep away from your mosques your children, your insane, your disputes, your raised voices, the drawing of your swords and the carrying out of your prescribed punishments; burn incense in them once a week; and set up places of purification at the doors of your mosques." I say: Ibn Majah recorded the hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Ala' bin Kathir al-Laythi al-Shami, who is da'if (weak).
