Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seventy thousand people of my nation will enter Paradise in such a way that they will not be taken to any account." Sayyiduna Ukkashah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah Almighty that He make me among them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: "O Allah, make him among them!" Those present fell silent, and they began saying to one another: "If only we too had said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah Almighty that He make us among them'; that would have been fitting." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ukkashah and his companion have preceded you in this. But had you said it, I would have said it, and had I said it, it would have become binding."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator Atiyyah, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared thiqah (trustworthy), and a narrator Mahmud bin Bakr, whom I do not know.
