Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Asid al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O people, I will be your forerunner, and you will come to me at the Pond. My Pond is as large as the distance between San'a and Busra; beside it there are cups made of silver and gold as numerous as the stars. When you come to me, I will ask you about two things, so take care what you do with regard to the two of them after me. The greater cause (rope) is the Book of Allah; one end of it is in the hand of Allah Almighty and one end of it is in your hands, so hold firmly to it; do not go astray and do not make changes. (And the second thing is) my 'itrah, the people of my household, for the All-Knowing, the All-Aware has informed me that these two will not come to an end until they both come to me at the Pond."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains; both contain a narrator, Zayd bin al-Hasan al-Anmati, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Abu Hatim declared da'if (weak). The rest of the narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih, and those of the other are likewise, except Nasr bin Abd al-Rahman al-Washsha', and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
