Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundab (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The Prophets will express pride before one another as to which of them has the most companions from his Ummah. I hope that on that day my companions will be the most numerous, and that they will all come (to me at the Pond). On that day each of those Prophets will be standing beside a full Pond, with a staff in his hand, calling whichever member of his Ummah he recognises. Every Ummah will have a distinctive mark by which its Prophet will recognise them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Marwan bin Ja'far al-Samuri, whom Ibn Abi Hatim declared thiqah (trustworthy), and al-Azdi said: "People have criticised him." The rest of the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
