Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 18459

Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the house of Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) but did not find him (at home). He asked his wife about him; this lady belonged to Banu al-Najjar. The lady said: "May my father be sacrificed for you! He went out intending to come to you; perhaps he missed meeting you in one of the lanes of Banu al-Najjar. O Messenger of Allah, will you not come inside?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went inside, and the lady presented "hays" to him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate some of it. The lady said: "O Messenger of Allah, may it be wholesome and pleasant for you! You have come, whereas I had intended to come to you and congratulate you. Sayyiduna Abu Umarah (may Allah be pleased with him) (that is, Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him)) told me that you have been given a river in Paradise called al-Kawthar." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. Its ground (or the ground of its banks) is of rubies, coral, emeralds and pearls." The lady said: "I would like you to describe your Pond to me in such a way that I hear it from you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is as large as the distance between Aylah and San'a; its vessels are as numerous as the stars, and among those who come there, the most beloved to me are your people, O daughter of Hamd!" (The narrator says: What the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant was: O lady from the Ansar!) (Allamah al-Haythami said:) I say: Perhaps the correct words of the narration are: "O daughter of Qahd!"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Haram bin Uthman, who is matruk (abandoned).
