بَابٌ : لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يُنْجِيهِ عَمَلُهُ .
No one's deeds will save him

وَعَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَنْ يُنْجِيَ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ عَمَلُهُ " . قَالُوا : وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ ! قَالَ : " وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالْكَبِيرِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْكَبِيرِ : " مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُدْخِلُهُ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ " . فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : وَلَا أَنْتَ ؟ ! فَذَكَرَهُ . وَفِي أَسَانِيدِهِمْ أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِمْ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "No one among you will be saved by his deeds." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even I, except that Allah Almighty has covered me with His mercy."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; however, in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir he recorded these words: "The deeds of no one among you will admit him into Paradise." One of those present asked: "Not even you?" After that the narrator mentioned the whole hadith. The chains of these narrations contain Ash'ath bin Sawwar, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness; the rest of the narrators of these narrations are thiqat (trustworthy).
