Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is a sin which will be forgiven, a sin which will not be forgiven, and a sin for which recompense will be exacted. As for the sin which will not be forgiven, it is associating anyone as a partner with Allah. As for the sin which will be forgiven, it is your deed that concerns the matter between you and your Lord. As for the sin for which recompense will be exacted, it is your wronging your brother."
Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Talhah bin Amr, who is matruk (abandoned).
