Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Two men came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and both of them had the same need. One of them began to speak, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed a bad odour from his mouth. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Do you not use the miswak (tooth-stick)? He replied: I do, but I have not eaten any food for three days. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an instruction to a man concerning him; he took him along with him and fulfilled his need.
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded this narration, and the chain of Ahmad is jayyid (good).
