وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ يَضْحَكُونَ فَقَالَ : " تَضْحَكُونَ وَذِكْرُ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ ؟ ! " . قَالَ : فَمَا رُئِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ ضَاحِكًا حَتَّى مَاتَ ، قَالَ : وَنَزَلَتْ : " نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ الرَّبَذِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people who were laughing, and he said: "You are laughing, while Paradise and Hell are mentioned before you?" The narrator says: After that, none of those people was ever seen laughing until they died. The narrator says: This verse was revealed: "Inform My servants that indeed I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, and that My punishment is the painful punishment."
