وَعَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ ، وَأَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْحَى إِلَى نَبِيٍّ مِنْ أَنْبِيَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنْ قُلْ لِأَهْلِ طَاعَتِي مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ لَا يَتَّكِلُوا عَلَى أَعْمَالِهِمْ ; فَإِنِّي لَا أُقَاصُّ عِنْدَ الْحِسَابِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، ثُمَّ أَشَاءُ أَنْ أُعَذِّبَهُ إِلَّا عَذَّبْتُهُ . وَقُلْ لِأَهْلِ الْمَعَاصِي مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ : لَا يُلْقُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ; فَإِنِّي أَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ الْعِظَامَ ، وَلَا أُبَالِي ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِ قَرْيَةٍ ، وَلَا أَهْلِ مَدِينَةٍ ، وَلَا أَرْضٍ ، وَلَا رَجُلٍ بِخَاصَّةٍ ، وَلَا امْرَأَةٍ يَكُونُ لِي عَلَى مَا أُحِبُّ ; فَأَكُونُ لَهُ عَلَى مَا يُحِبُّ ، ثُمَّ يَتَحَوَّلُ عَمَّا أُحِبُّ إِلَى مَا أَكْرَهُ إِلَّا تَحَوَّلْتُ لَهُ عَمَّا يُحِبُّ إِلَى مَا يَكْرَهُ . وَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَنْ أَهْلِ مَدِينَةٍ ، وَلَا أَهْلِ أَرْضٍ ، وَلَا رَجُلٍ بِخَاصَّةٍ ، وَلَا امْرَأَةٍ يَكُونُ لِي عَلَى مَا أَكْرَهُ ، ثُمَّ يَتَحَوَّلُ لِي عَمَّا أَكْرَهُ إِلَى مَا أُحِبُّ إِلَّا تَحَوَّلْتُ لَهُ عَمَّا يَكْرَهُ إِلَى مَا يُحِبُّ . لَيْسَ مِنِّي مَنْ تَطَيَّرَ ، أَوْ تُطِيِّرَ لَهُ ، أَوْ تَكَهَّنَ ، أَوْ تُكِهِّنَ لَهُ ، أَوْ سَحَرَ أَوْ سُحِرَ لَهُ . إِنَّمَا أَنَا وَخَلْقِي ، وَكُلُّ خَلْقِي لِي " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عِيسَى بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الطُّهَوِيُّ ، قَالَ أَبُو زُرْعَةَ : لَيِّنٌ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ ، يُكْتَبُ حَدِيثُهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami narrates: I entered the mosque, and the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), was on the pulpit saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty revealed to one of the prophets of the Children of Israel: 'Say to those of your Ummah who obey Me that they should not rely on their deeds, for there is no one whom I hold to a full account at the Reckoning on the Day of Resurrection and then will to punish, except that I punish him. And say to the sinners of your Ummah that they should not cast themselves into ruin (through despair), for I forgive the gravest sins and I do not mind. There is no inhabitant of any town, city or land, nor any particular man or woman, who is with Me upon what I love, so that I am for him upon what he loves, and who then turns from what I love to what I dislike, except that I turn for him from what he loves to what he dislikes. And there is no inhabitant of any town or city, nor any particular man or woman, who does what I dislike and then turns from it to doing what I love, except that I turn for him from what he dislikes to what he loves. He has nothing to do with Me who takes omens or has omens taken for him, or who practises soothsaying or has soothsaying done for him, or who practises magic or has magic done for him. Indeed, there is only I and My creation, and all My creation belongs to Me.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Isa bin Muslim al-Tuhawi. Abu Zur'ah said: He is layyin (soft, weak). Abu Hatim said: He is not strong; his hadith may be written down. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy), if Allah wills.
