وَعَنْ أُمِّ الْوَلِيدِ بِنْتِ عُمَرَ قَالَتْ : اطَّلَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ذَاتَ عَشِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ ؟ " . قَالُوا : مِمَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " تَجْمَعُونَ مَا لَا تَأْكُلُونَ ، وَتَبْنُونَ مَا لَا تُعَمِّرُونَ ، وَتَأْمُلُونَ مَا لَا تُدْرِكُونَ . أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ الْوَازِعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyidah Umm al-Walid bint Umar (may Allah be pleased with her) says: One evening the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his attention and said: "O people, do you not feel shame?" The people submitted: O Messenger of Allah, about what? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You gather what you will not eat, you build what you will not (always) inhabit, and you hope for what you will not attain. Do you not feel shame about that?"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Wazi' bin Nafi', and he is matruk (abandoned).
