Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17922

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about the people of Paradise?" We said: Yes! O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every weak person who is of lowly standing, whose clothing is ordinary, who is paid no attention, but if he swears an oath by Allah, Allah Almighty fulfils it for him. Shall I not tell you about the people of Hell?" We said: Yes! O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every 'jazz', 'ja'z', arrogant one." The narrator says: I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by "jazz"? He said: "One who is bulky." I asked: What is meant by "ja'z"? He said: "One who considers himself great."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Sa'id bin Abi Maryam, and he is da'if (weak).
