Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The poor Muslims will enter (Paradise) five hundred years before the wealthy Muslims. We asked: O Messenger of Allah, who are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are those who, when there is a perilous situation, are sent out, and when there is the prospect of spoils, others are sent; they are those who are not allowed to come to the ruler's door." (Al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded part of this narration.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abu Ubaydah bin al-Fudayl bin Iyad, whom I do not know, and Zayd al-Ammi, whom the majority declared da'if (weak), although he has been declared trustworthy; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
