Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever has three things in him will taste the flavour of faith: the person to whom nothing is dearer than Allah and His Messenger; the person to whom being burnt in the fire is dearer than abandoning his religion (that is, Islam); and the person who loves (someone) for the sake of Allah Almighty and hates (someone) for the sake of Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir, and it is also reported in the Sahih, only without these words: "and hates for the sake of Allah Almighty." Its chain contains a narrator, Abu al-Huwayrith, whom Malik and Yahya bin Ma'in declared da'if (weak), while Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
