Yahya bin Sa'id has narrated this statement of Nawfal bin Mas'ud: We came to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Narrate to us a hadith which you heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever has three things in him will be made forbidden for the Fire, and the Fire will be made forbidden for him: belief in Allah Almighty, love for Allah Almighty, and that being thrown into the fire and burnt is more preferable to him than returning to disbelief."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This hadith is mentioned from him in the Sahih, but without this wording.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it. As for Nawfal bin Mas'ud, I have not seen anyone who mentioned his biography, except that al-Mizzi said in the biography of Yahya al-Qattan: He narrated from Nawfal bin Mas'ud, the student of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
