Majma al-Zawaid 17593 — How to seek forgiveness

Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most complete word in the sight of Allah Almighty is that the servant says: 'O Allah! Indeed You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself, and I confess my sin, and none can forgive sins except You. O my Lord! Forgive my sins.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Ayyash, who is da'if (weak).
