وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لِمُعَاذٍ : " أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ دُعَاءً تَدْعُو بِهِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ مِثْلُ جَبَلِ أُحُدٍ دَيْنًا لَأَدَّى اللَّهُ عَنْكَ ؟ قُلْ يَا مُعَاذُ : اللَّهُمَّ مَالِكَ الْمُلْكِ ، تُؤْتِي الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ ، وَتَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشَاءُ ، وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ ، وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ ، بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ ، إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ، رَحْمَنُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ تُعْطِيهِمَا مَنْ تَشَاءُ ، وَتَمْنَعُ مِنْهُمَا مَنْ تَشَاءُ ، ارْحَمْنِي رَحْمَةً تُغْنِينِي بِهَا عَنْ رَحْمَةِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him): "Shall I not teach you a supplication such that, if you make it, then even if you owed a debt as large as Mount Uhud, Allah Almighty would have it paid off on your behalf? O Mu'adh! Recite this:
'Allahumma malik al-mulk, tu'ti al-mulka man tasha', wa tanzi'u al-mulka mimman tasha', wa tu'izzu man tasha', wa tudhillu man tasha', biyadika al-khayr, innaka ala kulli shay'in qadir, Rahman al-dunya wal-akhirah tu'tihima man tasha', wa tamna'u minhuma man tasha', irhamni rahmatan tughnini biha an rahmati man siwak'
(O Allah, Owner of sovereignty! You give sovereignty to whom You will and take sovereignty away from whom You will; You honour whom You will and abase whom You will. In Your hand is all good, and indeed You have power over all things. O Most Merciful of this world and the Hereafter! You give both of them (that is, this world and the Hereafter) to whom You will, and You withhold both of them from whom You will. Have mercy on me with a mercy by which You make me free of need of everyone besides You.)"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
