Qatadah narrates: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to enter a town, he would recite:
'Allahumma rabbas-samawati wa ma azallat, wa rabbash-shayatini wa ma adallat, wa rabbar-riyahi wa ma adhrat, as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma fiha' (O Allah, Lord of the heavens and of all that they shade; Lord of the devils and of all whom they lead astray; Lord of the winds and of all that they blow upon: I ask You for the good of it (that is, the town) and the good of the things in it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of it (that is, the town) and the evil of the things in it.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih; however, the narrator Qatadah did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
