Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he was suffering from sleeplessness, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not teach you words which, when you say them, you will fall asleep? Recite:
'Allahumma rabbas-samawatis-sab'i wa ma azallat, wa rabbal-aradina wa ma aqallat, wa rabbash-shayatini wa ma adallat, kun li jaran min sharri khalqika ajma'in, an yafruta 'alayya ahadun minhum aw yatgha, 'azza jaruka, wa tabaraka ismuk' (O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and whatever they shade, Lord of the earths and whatever they carry, Lord of the devils and whomever they lead astray: be my Protector from the evil of all Your creation, lest any one of them act excessively against me or transgress (that is, keep me safe from their transgression and excess). Mighty is the one You protect, and blessed is Your name.)"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Abd al-Rahman bin Sabit did not hear from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him).
