Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that a man asked him: Which jihad brings the greatest reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remembering Allah Almighty the most." That man asked: Which of the righteous will receive the greatest reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who remember Allah Almighty the most." Then that man mentioned prayer, zakah, Hajj and charity, all of them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying: Those who remember Allah the most. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): O Abu Hafs, those who remember (Allah) have taken away every kind of good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is so."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, but he (al-Tabarani) narrated these words: "That man asked him (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: Which of the mujahidin will receive the greatest reward?"
The chain of this report contains Zabban bin Fa'id, who is da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy; the case of Ibn Lahi'ah is the same, and the remaining narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
