وَعَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَوْفَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ الَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا بِمَكَّةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّهْ قُرَيْشًا فِي الدِّينِ وَأَذِقْهُمْ مِنْ يَوْمِي هَذَا إِلَى آخِرِ الدَّهْرِ نَوَالًا ، فَقَدْ أَذَقْتَهُمْ نَكَالًا " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! After Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), I have not seen anyone more faithful (to the covenant) than those people of Quraysh who became Muslim in Makkah on the occasion of its conquest." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah! Grant Quraysh understanding of the religion, and from this day of mine until the end of time keep bestowing Your gifts upon them, just as You previously made them taste punishment."
