Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16451

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give precedence to Quraysh, and do not try to go ahead of them. Learn from Quraysh, and do not try to teach them. Were it not for the fear that Quraysh would become too self-satisfied, I would have told them what reward there is with Allah Almighty for the best of them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ma'shar, whose hadith is hasan (good), and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
