وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ فِيمَا أَعْلَمُ : " قَدِّمُوا قُرَيْشًا ، وَلَا تَقَدَّمُوهَا ، وَلَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرَ قُرَيْشٌ لَأَخْبَرْتُهَا بِمَا لَهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ عَدِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ؛ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ ، وَلَيْسَ هُوَ عَدِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الَّذِي فِي ثِقَاتِ ابْنِ حِبَّانَ .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: To the best of my knowledge, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Give precedence to Quraysh, and do not try to go ahead of them. Were it not for the fear that Quraysh would fall into arrogance, I would have told them what standing they have with Allah Almighty."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Adi bin al-Fadl, who is matruk (abandoned), and he is not the Adi bin al-Fadl who is mentioned in Ibn Hibban's book al-Thiqat.
