وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَرْحَبٍ قَالَ : نَزَلَ فِي قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَرْبَعَةٌ ، أَحَدُهُمْ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ، وَكَانَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ يُدْعَى أَحْدَثَ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَيَقُولُ : أَخَذْتُ خَاتَمِي فَأَلْقَيْتُهُ وَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ خَاتَمِي سَقَطَ مِنْ يَدِي ; لِأَمَسَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَأَكُونَ آخِرَ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِهِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Ibn Marhab narrated: Four people went down into the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), one of whom was Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that he was the last to come out of the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: "I took my ring and dropped it into it, and I said: 'My ring has fallen from my hand.' My purpose was to touch the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and to be the last of people in contact with him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
