وَعَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَفَرَ قَبْرَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . قَالَ : فَلَحَدْنَا لَحْدًا . قَالَ : فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْقَبْرَ طَرَحْتُ الْفَأْسَ ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ : الْفَأْسَ الْفَأْسَ ، ثُمَّ نَزَلْتُ فَوَضَعْتُ يَدِي عَلَى اللَّحْدِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مُجَالِدٌ وَهُوَ حَسَنُ الْحَدِيثِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I was one of those who dug the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: We prepared a lahd (side niche). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had been lowered into the blessed grave, I dropped the axe down, then I said: "The axe, the axe!" Then I went down and placed my hand on the lahd.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Mujalid, who is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith), and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
