Zayd bin Aslam said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by a shepherd of goats and asked: O shepherd of the goats! Is there a goat that could be slaughtered? The shepherd said: Their owner is not here. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You can say that a wolf ate it. The shepherd raised his head towards the sky and then asked: Then where is Allah Almighty? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: By Allah! I have more right to say: Where is Allah Almighty? (meaning, Allah Almighty is watching). Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) bought that shepherd and bought his goats, then freed the shepherd and gave him the goats.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this report, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Abdullah bin al-Harith al-Hatibi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
