Majma al-Zawaid 15490 — Virtues of Ja'far bin Abi Talib
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمَ جَعْفَرٌ مِنَ الْحَبَشَةِ عَانَقَهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: When Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) came from Abyssinia, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) embraced him.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Mujalid bin Sa'id, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
