وَعَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ : لَمَّا أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَتْحَ خَيْبَرَ ، قِيلَ لَهُ : قَدْ قَدِمَ جَعْفَرٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ النَّجَاشِيِّ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا أَدْرِي أَيُّهُمَا أَنَا أَشَدُّ فَرَحًا بِقُدُومِ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَوْ فَتْحِ خَيْبَرَ " . فَأَتَاهُ فَقَبَّلَ مَا بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ مِنْهُ "أَنَّهُ قَبَّلَ مَا بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ" فَقَطْ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مُرْسَلًا ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ مِنْهُ "أَنَّهُ قَبَّلَ مَا بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ" فَقَطْ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مُرْسَلًا ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Imam al-Sha'bi says: When news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of the conquest of Khaybar, he was told: Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) has come back from the Negus. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not know which of the two makes me happier: Ja'far's arrival or the conquest of Khaybar?" When Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed him between his two eyes.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded only this part of the report: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed him between his two eyes. Al-Tabarani recorded it as a mursal report, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
