بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَبَّاسِ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمَنْ جُمِعَ مَعَهُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ
Reports on al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), paternal uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and those of his children mentioned with him

وَعَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ قَالَ : قِيلَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ : أَيُّمَا أَكْبَرُ ، أَنْتَ أَمِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ فَقَالَ : هَذَا أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي ، وَأَنَا وُلِدْتُ قَبْلَهُ . وَكَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ أَسَنُّ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ; وُلِدَ قَبْلَ الْفِيلِ بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Razin (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: Who is the elder, you or the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: He is greater than me, but I was born before him. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was older than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he was born three years before the Year of the Elephant.
