Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 15480

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports: When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would not get up from beside him; however, the case of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was different, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased by this. One day Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was coming, so Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) moved from his place for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the matter with you? He said: O Messenger of Allah! Your uncle is coming. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards him, then turned towards Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, smiling: "Here is Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) coming, and he is wearing white clothes, whereas after him his descendants will wear black, and twelve men from among them will become kings." When Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, he said: O Messenger of Allah! Did you say something to Abu Bakr? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said nothing but good. Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! You are right; you say nothing but good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), who is my uncle, is coming, wearing white clothes, and that after him his descendants will soon wear black, and twelve men from among them will become kings.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in abridged form in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
