بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَبَّاسِ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمَنْ جُمِعَ مَعَهُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ
Reports on al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), paternal uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and those of his children mentioned with him

وَعَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ أَنَّهُ بَشَّرَ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِإِسْلَامِ الْعَبَّاسِ ، فَأَعْتَقَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the good news of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) accepting Islam, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set him free.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
