Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). From outside he heard the raised voice of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was saying: By Allah! I know that Ali and Fatimah are dearer to you than me and my father. She said this two or three times. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter; when he came in, he went towards Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: O daughter of so-and-so! Let me not hear you raising your voice before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Imam Abu Dawud also recorded this narration, but he did not mention Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
