Al-Zuhri narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) gave half of his wealth, which was four thousand dirhams, in charity. Then he gave forty thousand in charity, then he gave forty thousand dinars in charity, then he gave five hundred horses in the way of Allah, and then he gave fifteen hundred she-camels for riding in the way of Allah. Most of his wealth came from trade.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration.
This narration is mursal, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
