Book of Virtues
بَابٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " .
The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him"

وَعَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولَهُ " . فَأَعْطَاهَا عَلِيًّا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِأَسَانِيدَ ، وَفِي أَحْسَنِهَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِأَسَانِيدَ ، وَفِي أَحْسَنِهَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give the banner to the man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him." (The narrator says:) Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it (the banner) to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it with various chains; the best of them contains Mu'tamir bin Abi al-Sari al-Asqalani, whom I do not know; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
