Book of Virtues
بَابٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " .
The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him"

وَعَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " . فَدَعَا عَلِيًّا فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ضِرَارُ بْنُ صُرَدَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Layla (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give the banner to the man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and gave the banner to him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Dirar bin Surad, who is da'if (weak).
