Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14179

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ : أَنَّ أَبَا أَسِيدٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ : وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَا يَمْنَعُ شَيْئًا يُسْأَلُهُ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ فِي حَدِيثٍ طَوِيلٍ تَقَدَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةِ بَدْرٍ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ إِلَّا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِي أَسِيدٍ . وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Abdullah bin Abi Bakr narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked for something, he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not refuse. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration within a long hadith, which has already passed in the chapter on the Battle of Badr. Its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that the narrator Abdullah bin Abi Bakr did not hear from Sayyiduna Abu Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him). And Allah knows best.
