Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1395

Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the last military expedition in which we took part with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to wipe over our leather socks; for the traveller its period was three days and three nights, and for the resident one day and one night, as long as he does not take it (that is, the foot out of the leather sock) off.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Rudayh, whom Abu Hatim declared "da'if" (weak), while Yahya bin Ma'in says: he is salih al-hadith (fair in hadith).
