وَعَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ بِالْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ، وَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us regarding wiping over the leather socks that the traveller may wipe over the leather socks for three days and three nights, and the resident for one day and one night.
Al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".
