Abu Ubaydah bin Abdullah narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to command us, when we were with him, not to take off our leather socks for three days and three nights, except that the case of major ritual impurity (janabah) is different; but for urination or sleep (that is, when ablution is broken by these, we were not to take them off).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ayyub bin Suwayd, and he is da'if (weak); however, Ibn Hibban mentioned him in the book "al-Thiqat" and said: he has a poor memory and makes mistakes.
