وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا طَبَخَ أَحَدُكُمْ قِدْرًا فَلْيُكْثِرْ مَرَقَهَا ، ثُمَّ لِيُنَاوِلْ جَارَهُ مِنْهَا " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَائِدُ الْأَعْمَشِ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَضَعَّفَهُ غَيْرُهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you cooks a pot, let him add more broth to it and then give some of it to his neighbour as well."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ubaydullah bin Sa'id, who used to lead al-A'mash about. Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while others declared him da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
