Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Once I was at a piece of land which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had granted to Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him); it was land of the (tribe of) al-Nadir. Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) had gone out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We had a Jewish neighbour; he slaughtered a goat and its meat was cooked. I caught its smell, and the smell of the meat affected me as nothing else had ever affected me. At that time I was pregnant with my daughter whose name is Khadijah. I could not restrain myself, so I went and asked that man's wife for some fire, hoping that she would give me something to eat; I had no need of the fire. When I smelled the meat again and saw it, my state became even worse. I put out that fire and went a second time to take fire from her, and then a third time. When I saw this situation, I sat down weeping and praying to Allah Almighty. When that woman's husband came home, he said: Did anyone come to you? The woman replied: No, except an Arab woman who came to take some fire. The man said: I will not eat this meat until you send some of it to that woman. So the woman sent me a ladleful (qudhah), and at that time nothing on the face of the earth was more pleasing to me than that food. Ibn Bukayr says: The word qudhah means a ladleful.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".
