عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُوصِي بِالْجَارِ ، حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِنَحْوِهِ ، وَصَرَّحَ بَقِيَّةُ بِالتَّحْدِيثِ ، فَهُوَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urging care for the neighbour, until I thought that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would make him an heir.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar; in it the narrator Baqiyyah explicitly states that he heard it directly (tahdith), so this hadith is hasan (good).
