Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Neighbours are of three kinds: a neighbour who has one right, and he is the lowest of neighbours (in rights); a neighbour who has two rights; and a neighbour who has three rights. As for the one who has one right, he is an idolater neighbour with whom there is no kinship; he has the right of neighbourliness. As for the one who has two rights, he is a Muslim neighbour; he has the right of Islam and the right of neighbourliness. As for the one who has three rights, he is a Muslim neighbour who is also a relative; he has the right of Islam, the right of neighbourliness and the right of kinship."
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Harithi, and he is a fabricator of hadith (wadda').
