وَعَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الْتَمِسُوا الْجَارَ قَبْلَ الدَّارِ ، وَالرَّفِيقَ قَبْلَ الطَّرِيقِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ أَبَانُ بْنُ الْمُحَبَّرِ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek the neighbour before the house, and the travelling companion before the road."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Aban bin al-Muhabbar, and he is matruk (abandoned).
