Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of al-Hudaybiyah we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). That night there was heavy rain. When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what your Lord has said?" The people said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said this three times and the people gave the same reply. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your Lord says: 'Whoever says, "Rain has come down upon us because of such-and-such a star," has disbelieved in Me and believed in that star; and whoever says, "Allah Almighty has given us rain," has believed in Me and disbelieved in that star.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji, whom a group declared thiqah (trustworthy) and others declared da'if (weak).
