Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13265

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to say: "Avoid the pieces of these marked game pieces (that is, chess), both of which are driven along (perhaps meaning that in this game the opponent's piece is struck down), for they are part of gambling."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Yazid, and he is matruk (abandoned).
