وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا تَرْفَعِ الْعَصَا عَلَى أَهْلِكَ ، وَأَخِفْهُمْ فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ حَيٍّ ، وَثَّقَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُ وَضَعَّفَهُ النَّوَوِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ عَلَى هَذَا جِيدٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not raise the stick against your family, and keep making them fear Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains al-Hasan bin Salih bin Hayy, whom Ahmad and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while al-Nawawi and others declared him da'if (weak); on this basis its chain is good (jayyid).
