بَابٌ فِي الْعُطَاسِ وَمَا يَقُولُ الْعَاطِسُ وَمَا يُقَالُ لَهُ
Sneezing, what the sneezer says and what is said to him

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ :
" إِذَا عَطَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلِ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ - أَحْسَبُهُ ، قَالَ : عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ - وَلْيَقُلْ لَهُ : يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ ، وَلْيَقُلْ هُوَ : يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَنَا وَلَكُمْ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ بَعْضَهُ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ عَزْرَةَ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you sneezes, he should say 'Alhamdulillah'" - the narrator says: I think the narration also contains the words "in every state" - "and it should be said to him: 'May Allah Almighty have mercy on you,' and that person should say: 'May Allah Almighty forgive us and you.'"
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi recorded part of it.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Asbat bin Azrah, and I do not know him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
