وَعَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ :
رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأُتِيَ بِثَوْبٍ مِنَ الْقِصَارِ ، وَعَلَيْهِ مَكْتُوبٌ : شَيْطَانٌ ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَمُحِيَ ، وَقَالَ : " أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مَرْفُوعًا وَمَوْقُوفًا ، وَرِجَالُهُمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِلَّا أَنَّ الطَّبَرَانِيَّ صَحَّحَ الْوَقْفَ عَلَى الرَّفْعِ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a cloth was brought to him on which "Shaytan" was written. By his order it was erased, and he said: "I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan."
Al-Tabarani recorded it both marfu' and mawquf (as the Prophet's words and as a Companion's words), and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih; however, al-Tabarani considered the mawquf version more authentic than the marfu' one.
