وَعَنْ أَبِي قِرْصَافَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " هَلْ لَكَ عَقِبٌ ؟ " . قُلْتُ : لِي أَخٌ . قَالَ : " جِئْ بِهِ " . قَالَ : فَوَقَفْتُ بِأَخِي - وَكَانَ غُلَامًا صَغِيرًا - حَتَّى جَاءَ مَعِي ، فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - هَرَبَ ، فَأَخَذْتُهُ ، فَضَمَمْتُ يَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَأَسْلَمَ وَبَايَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ مِيسَمٌ ، فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَا اسْمُهُ يَا أَبَا قِرْصَافَةَ ؟ " . قُلْتُ : مِيسَمٌ . قَالَ : " بَلِ اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمٌ " . قُلْتُ : مُسْلِمٌ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Do you have anyone to succeed you?" I said: "I have a brother." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring him." The narrator says: I brought my brother; he was a young boy, and he came with me. When he drew near to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he ran away. I caught him, held his hands and feet together, and then brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He accepted Islam and pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). His name was Maysam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "O Abu Qirsafah, what is his name?" I said: "Maysam." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, his name is Muslim." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, Muslim will remain with you."
